Heroes of Education

The HOPE campaign was created and launched by the Arizona School Boards Association as the annual theme to kick off 2015. The intent of the campaign is to spotlight educators, parents, legislators, business partners and community members that inspire and unconditionally influence students throughout Arizona. HOPE recipients will be showcased on the ASBA website,, Facebook and Twitter sites and printed in various publications.

The following three individuals from Casa Grande have received this award:

  • Katheryne Lairmore - educational assistant at Ironwood School
  • Lisa Flores - Social Studies teacher at Cactus Middle School
  • Helen Neuharth - President and CEO of the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce

Mrs. Lairmore is to be commended for providing a safe and nurturing academic environment for students who frequently experience significant emotional turmoil. Mrs. Flores, besides being a great teacher, has coached the Mock Trial teams at Cactus Middle School for several years, and she has an impressive record for developing the skills of middle school students in public speaking, writing, reasoning, and laogic. Throughout Helen Neuharth’s 24 years of service to the community as the Executive Director of the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce, Helen has recognized the critical relationship between education and economic development, and she has been a tireless champion and supporter of public education. All three are very deserving of recognition.
